Alzheimer's Association - Western Regional Office
The Western Regional Office of the Alzheimer's Association provides several services to help individuals cope with the challenges that accompany Alzheimer's disease. The local chapter can provide information about resources within the western Mass area, such as home care services, day programs, special care units, and social and legal resources. A telephone Helpline offers guidance, as well as monthly support groups. The Chapter Newsletter is published quarterly with updated information. A speaker's bureau can address issues of interest to professionals and organizations. A caregiver library includes books, videos, and pamphlets. Also offered is the Safe Return program which is a nationwide system designed to help identify, locate and return to safety individuals with memory impairments who have wandered or gotten lost. The Association also offers a respite program which can provide up to $500 towards respite care for families. The care must be arranged by the family. The Association is always looking to raise funds for this cause.

The Alzheimer's Disease Education & Referral Center (ADEAR) provides information about Alzheimer's Disease and related disorders. It is a service of the National Institute on Aging one of the U.S. government's National Institutes of Health. The ADEAR Center distributes information as part of a broad program to support research about health issues for older people and provide the public with information. Referrals can be given for supportive services and research facilities.

Center for Excellence in Diabetes Education
The Center for Excellence in Diabetes Education is committed to helping people with diabetes mellitus improve their diabetes care and control. The program teaches practical diabetes care and provides education and tools to help manage diabetes through proper exercise, diet, medications, and follow-up care. Beginning Class: Reviews and teaches basic information to anyone with diabetes Advanced Classes: Carbohydrate Counting, Insulin Adjustment, and Advanced Carbohydrate Counting Insulin Pump Therapy Program Individual Sessions with follow-up sessions to review improvement, follow through on goals, and improve diabetes control.

Cooley Dickinson Hospital
Cooley Dickinson is a community and regional hospital providing inpatient, outpatient, women's health, childbirth services, VNA and hospice care, radiology and imaging services and rehabilitation services. The hospital offers Tel-Med health information and is an acute care, private, non-profit hospital. The hospital provides 24 hour emergency services, childbirth center, medical and surgical care, intensive and coronary care, behavioral health services including mental health and substance abuse, oncology care including radiation therapy, rehabilitation and laboratory services, primary care, occupational health, and diagnostic imaging including mammography, ultrasound, CT and MRI. Outpatient services are offered at 10 Main Street in Florence as well as in Amherst, Easthampton, Hadley and South Deerfield.
